The installation is based on LeisurePOS software from Glasgow-based Gamma Dataware, and will be used to handle admissions, retail point of sale, corporate bookings, membership and stock control.

Software modules including Admissions, Retail PoS, Intex Payroll and ACCPAC Advantage Series Financial have been implemented throughout the museum's front of house and back office management systems. A Ticketing and Gift Aid module has also been included.

At the point of sale, Epson's IR touchscreen - with built-in TM-T88III receipt printers - will allow quicker processing of transactions and enable, on average, a cash sale to be completed in 20 seconds and a credit card transaction around 35 seconds.

Opened in 2002 and having welcomed 160,000 visitors a year since then, the National Maritime Museum Cornwall is committed to conservation, research, education and entertainment and is home to a wide range of exhibits, books and archives.

It also has a café, retail shop and a lecture theatre with state-of-the-art presentation facilities.
