M H Systems (MHS), creators of the GCGold and Chips club management software, has launched a new product for handling points-based voucher and golf credit schemes.

The new software has been designed to address the problems of decreasing golf club membership and was initially developed to run the highly successful Golf at Goodwood scheme - where it is reported to have increased green fee revenue and membership numbers threefold so far this year - which was launched by Lord March early in 2006.

The Goodwood scheme works by members paying a small annual membership instead of a traditional joining fee and buying credits which can be redeemed against rounds of golf and other golfing related activities such as lessons or the use of a buggy.

MHS's new software can be used alongside any existing club management system and can be installed on any existing PC running Windows 98 or later versions.

David Hesketh, Sales Director, says: “We knew that a large number of proprietory clubs already ran some sort of 'lifestyle' or 'incentive' membership scheme in an attempt to attract golfers unwilling to pay large joining fees. Many already offer voucher schemes where golf becomes cheaper the more you play.

“Although Golf at Goodwood is a huge success, different clubs operate in different ways running different types of schemes. Our first job, therefore, was to create a single product capable of automating any existing paper-based scheme, and then allow clubs to expand the scheme into other areas of club life to provide a completely new way to join a club.

“There is no doubt that falling membership revenue is a significant problem and clubs have already started to offer schemes to this new breed of golfer.”
