Banner Sports Surfaces have once again installed a state of the art artificial pitch facility in an area of Sheffield that is desperately lacking in the provision of sports facilities.

Myers Grove School was awarded the project, which was part of £6m bid for the city to improve sporting facilities. The decision was taken after the council realised that sports provision in the north west of Sheffield was seriously under resourced.

Ian Assis, Sports Strategy advisor for Sheffield City Council said: “Winning the bid wasn't easy. Our original proposal to build a full size hockey pitch was rejected due to planning issues. In the end we had to settle for a smaller facility which has been expertly designed for the provision of a number of sports applications and the end result is fantastic.”

The multi use games area - which was officially opened by Premiership Referee Uriah Rene - is in use by school pupils, neighbouring sixth form School, Wisewood College and the wider community.
