The attractions of queuing virtually

Monkwood Technologies has developed CellQ, a new generation of theme park and visitor attraction queuing technology linked to visitors' mobile phones.

The system involves the use of mobile phone text messaging in conjunction with barcoded wristbands to inform the registered users the length of the queue for a venue's attractions.

With this the user can select the attraction they want to ride on, be allotted a time so they can avoid standing in a queue and then swipe themselves through to ride at the appropriate time.

For the theme park operator the wristbands offer a way of tracking guests movements through attractions,, along with their ride selections. The CellQ technology offers a means of notifying visitors of the operational status of various rides, and also any possible issues or special offers available.

For the user, the technology linked to mobile phone texting capability can be used to reunite members of a party if they should get separated.

The company says that CellQ offers the ability to increase secondary spend around a venue as guests do not have to wait in queues outside an attraction. The information retained about their visit is protected by the company and the instantaneous sending of guest text messages is secured by the specialist CellQ infrastructure that supports the installed system.

Rather than waiting in a physical queue, use your mobile phone to join a virtual queue and be called to the queue when you are virtually at the front.
