MySphere is a patented facial skin imaging system from Memscap that claims to accurately provide revealing photos, objective measures of subdermal conditions and the ability to track improvements in consumers’ skin.

By employing advanced lighting and filtering techniques, MySphere captures high-resolution images of clients’ facial skin. This then enables the operator in less than 15 seconds, to reveal specific skin conditions such as wrinkles, fine lines, irritation below the skin’s surface and the effects of sun damage.

This is achieved through the use of five different lights to take pictures, used to highlight different aspects of the skin in the following ways:

• Standard Visible Light – a natural outdoor light image, useful as a starting point and reference
• Parallel Polarised Light – highlights surface features; fine lines and pores
• Cross Polarised Light – highlights irritation and blood vessels below the skin’s surface; redness and ruddiness
• Blue Light – highlights clogged pores and bacterial activity
• Ultraviolet Light – highlights pigmentation and effects of sun damage below the skin’s surface

Touch-screen technology is used, allowing aestheticians to easily navigate through the information, characterise the skin’s conditions and then recommend the appropriate skin care treatments and products.
